1926.]. 12mo, small pamphlet (single folded sheet), pp. [iv], together with printed table on pink cardboard, containing five removable ‘concertina’ tabs (115 x 137mm); pamphlet lightly browned due to paper quality, folded a little weak with 1.5 cm split at head, and 4cm split at tail; housed within the original brown printed envelope, lightly soiled and with some edgewear and small split at upper left margin; neat signature of Guido Riccioldi?’ at upper margin; a most appealing survivor. Appealing portable calculating device inspired by Napier’s bones, the wooden or bone rods here replaced with five printed and ‘pleated’ paper sheets, which have been inserted into a pink card table numbered 1 to 9.
Professor Pietro Mori was, according to contemporary records, Director of the Luigi Pianciani Royal Complementary School, and the printed envelope reveals that the present device was being sold in aid of the school.
